DevOps - MBC Group
Sep 2022 - Present

Shahid.net is a streaming service targeting the MENA region and is part of the MBC Group.

As part of a team, I’m responsible for increasing Shahid’s availability, performance, and scalability, as well as adding new features to compete with other streaming services both internationally and in the MENA region. This role heavily involves working with video streaming solutions, particularly AWS Media Services.

In this position, I’m fortunate to work with and learn from leaders in the streaming industry both locally and internationally. This includes direct training sessions and face-to-face collaboration with the AWS media team to find the best solutions in terms of performance, scalability, availability, and cost.

Contributions & Responsibilities:

  • Designed, implemented, and maintained the CI/CD for the media team, including configuring GitLab, Runners, Terraform, and AWS.
  • Wrote multiple Python libraries that standardized and helped maintain significant portions of the workflows.
  • Designed and tested POCs, which were developed into final products.

This role heavily involved dealing with AWS APIs and utilizing various AWS services.

Contributions & Responsibilities:

  • Planned and developed the backend of a service that streamlines and centralizes the logging process for organizations over multiple Organizational Units (OU) and accounts. This involved creating the backbone of the solution (Lambda, Python, Pandas), automating the organization of logs (Terraform), and providing an API for querying large datasets cost-effectively.
  • Developed and expanded solutions that deal with account creation and cost optimization.
  • Maintained Git workflows and automated pipelines utilizing Bitbucket Pipelines and AWS CodeDeploy.
